A SAFE HAVEN FOR UNWANTED ANIMALS
Happy Christmas
Well after all that, its been and gone! Yes Christmas day I mean, mind you it was a good one. I am still full to the brim and still there is so much food and so little time!
Of course the animals still need feeding and cleaning and of course loving! Precious the little kitten is thriving so very well now she has expelled the worms and cabbage. Yes thats right, worms and cabbage that had filled her gut to bursting while she was living rough. Bless the lttle thing having to scavange for food, it does not bear thinking about. However she is enjoying life at the farm and all the fuss that goes with it. Having been hated by all the cats on arrival she now has them all wrapped around her little paw.
Beauty has settled well and has recently started eating well too. She sleeps all day under the kitchen table and then gets up to have a meal then sleeps again. Not a bad life really.
We had a lot of generosity to our animals during the festive season including a mass of food from Fair not Fur Traders. Julie and her customers also sent lots of toys and gifts for the residents. We also recived a large ammount of food from Gill Lane cattery along with several bags of cat litter. Many freinds have provided food and treats for the Christmas period. I just realised on Christmas day how short on cat cuddlers we are. In the new year I hope to recruit a band of willing cat cuddlers so that each cat can have some real quality time each day.
The ponies and horses have wintered well and are as full of life as ever. Feeding them has been an adventure as we battle with gail force winds here on the farm. Summer, the laminitic pony, is fantastically well as are all the outdoor animals. Crunchy the cow waits patiently for me each morning expecting her sugar beet and nuts. Such a Joy to see her ears cock high in my direction the moment she knows I am out and about.
Please look out for the monthly Cat magazine, My Cat, as Angel Wings is featured, I belive in the january addition. The feature includes one of our longest residing cats, Fluffy the blind cat.
Hopefully 2012 will bring great things for the animals at Angel Wings and I hope you will share the adventures with us. We are looking forward to taking in more animals and providing opportunities for young people also. Please keep up with the news via our website and facebook page.
We wish you all a wonderful New Year full of animals and Joy. Good luck in 2012 from all at Angel Wings.
If you are aware of any animal cruelty please do not turn a blind eye. No animal deserves to be badly treated and the new legislation means that the animals can be helped prior to actual suffering. Call the RSPCA and put an end to the animal cruelty. If you suspect an animal is locked away in a shed/stable or anywhere else without proper care make the call 03001234999.
If you suspect cruelty to a horse/pony or donkey call Redwings Horse Sanctuary 01508481874 they will send out your local welfare officer to make an initial inspection.
